Russell Westbrook's Lifestyle
Russell Westbrook was born in Long Beach, California. While growing up in Hawthorne, Westbrook was a childhood friend of Khelcey Burns, a talented young player who attracted interest from major colleges and universities with great basketball programs. He stood 6'6 and 200 pounds as a high school sophomore. He averaged more than 25 points per game and dunked for the first time and was recruited to play for Ben Howland at UCLA.
Mr. Westbrook the athletic, explosive kid helped UCLA reach the final four in the two seasons while at the college. He also earned an all conference defensive player of the year award. He received this honor while a sophomore. He was selected with the fourth overall pick in the 2008 NBA draft by the Seattle Supersonics, which later becam the Oklahoma City Thunder.
The 6'3 point guard averaged 23.6 points per game during the 2011-2012 season and led the Thunder to an NBA Finals matchup against the Miami Heat. Although billed a showdown between Kevin Durant and Lebron James, Mr. Westbrook stole the show with his explosive drives to the hoop and tenacious attitude.
